My Texas, My Rangers

It has been Ranger Fever around our house. After a long season of staying up late watching games and attending games in 100+ Texas heat, the post season finally arrived! The only negative is that post-season = low productivity in the Sessler household!!! It has been fun though and we are looking forward to seeing our Rangers take it all!! We are hoping tonight is all that we will need! From watch parties, to tailgates, to being at a few games, we have been trying to take it all in!

Project

Me and Pops built a little arbor for my grapevines, and just for fun as well. I found a picture of a prototype that I liked and modified it a bit. I cut cedar to the measurements that I wanted and then stained the wood. Then it worked out that my parents came into town a couple of weeks ago, so it was a perfect opportunity to have a project to do with my dad. Plus I was able to use "the master's skills" in case I screwed something up very badly. :)

PS we did hit a sprinkler line :/ That was fun...

Here is the picture I went by:

Cut to Size:

Stained and assembled:

Installed and braced until the concrete dries:

Yay!!

Next step is to add some flagstone underneath or some type of pavers.

The flowers are blooming in the garden as well. Makes it very enjoyable back there (I'm an old man).

Snow Day!!!

So like everyone else in the DFW area, I just had to post some snow day pics. Yes, I realize that there are people that have experienced more snow in their lives (including myself having grown up in the panhandle), but we made history here yesterday in the DFW area...the most snow in one day EVER. We got between 10-11"!!! That's huge for here and so random. The forecasters predicted a trace of snow to 2"; they missed that slightly!! We did not get out and play in the snow (rather opted for a warm fireplace and our living room with lots of comfort food), but I did snap some shots as I was leaving work yesterday. Mind you, it did snow for about 8 more hours after I took these!!!

"Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool." Isaiah 1:18

Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Psalm 51:7

Seccess!!

The garage sale last weekend was a success!! All day Friday I had people bringing over stuff for us to sale. I think we could have had a week long garage sale and we still would not have sold everything! The good news was that another couple from our church took all the leftover stuff to sell at their garage sale this weekend to help raise money for them to adopt a child overseas. The grand total was more than I was ever expecting, so the Lord really showed up!! Thanks to everyone that donated, and for all those who helped put on the event! Even though it was a lot of work and extremely hot, we had a blast doing it!!! The best new was that the electricity was finally fixed by about 6:30 Friday night right before it was time to set up!! That also meant that we got to sleep in our own bed with an air conditioned house...only to be woken up at 6:15 by happy, impatient shoppers (note: the sale started at 8:00)!!! They were eager and ready to go!!!

GARAGE & BAKE SALE

We will be having a garage & bake sale at our house tomorrow, June 13th starting at 8am!!! All proceeds will be donated to a very deserving family. This is a multi-family sale with lots of fun stuff. We'll have furniture, clothes, kitchen items, golf clubs, TVs, home decor, etc...if you don't need anything, come for a fun homemade treat!! Who knows, if the tree is still laying on our house, we might be selling fire wood too. Just bring your own saw and cut away!!!

Electricity or no electricity (that's right, still no power) the SALE WILL GO ON!!!

Playing Catch-up

I have not been on my best blogging behavior lately! I have some catching up to do. To start I realized that I never put up pictures I took over the Christmas break with my besties! I have the best friends ever and some of us got together while we were home over the break. It simply amazes me every time that we get together that no matter how few times we see each other during the year, it seems like we have never been apart when we finally do get to be together. I feel as close to these girls as I ever have. We may each be in different phases of life, but we are still best friends! I love you girls! Then to add more icing to the cake, all of the hubbies get along great and are very close! Two blessings in one! The Lord is so good to us all!

Sessler's, Ingram's, Wilson's, Cherry's

Megan, Ashley, Mandy, Sarah

I also wanted to show off my official letter saying that I passed my exam. I took this as we were leaving to go celebrate! My husband made me feel so special! He made me wear my glasses because he said they are my smart glasses!!!

I'm still going...I was tagged by Megan to go through my picture files! The rules are that you go to your 4th folder and find your 4th pic in that folder. Well I have a lot more folders within folders, so I had to kinda do it a different way. So I opened up my first folder on this compture which was the 2006 folder. Then I clicked on the 4th folder in that folder and found the 4th picture. This is in August of 2006 and is of Sam and his buddies in Utah for Ryan's wedding. I was not there, so I think this was the day before the wedding when they were just hanging out! It was a gorgeous wedding, I sure wish I could have been there!

So now I get to tag 4 other people to play the game.
Directions:
1) Choose the 4th folder where you store your pictures on your computer.
2) Select the 4th picture in the folder.3) Explain the picture.4) Tag 4 people to do the same.~No cheating (cropping, editing, etc.) Have fun!!~

You're it!
Last, thank you to Melissa for the Fabulous blog award! I'm glad you think my blog is FABULOUS!!!

The Olympics are here!

Please forgive me for my blog hiatus I decided to take! I guess I just haven't felt we have had many blog-worthy events happen lately!!! We did have a great weekend this weekend though. Nothing exciting really; just being able to be home with very few things pre-planned and spend time together is my idea of a great weekend. It was basically filled with Olympic watching, yard work, a church party, and more Olympic watching!!! We watched it all...the opening ceremonies (which were amazing!), volleyball, sand volleyball, swimming, diving, gymnastics, biking, rowing, and basketball just to name a few! I hate watching that much tv, but I just can't pull myself away. I love the competition, and watching the world's greatest athletes complete. The best of the best. I also love learning about the competitors and their stories. I have caught myself on the edge of my chair many times already. Usually when Michael Phelps is racing! Did anyone watch the relay last night around 11:00? One word....AMAZING!! Totally worth staying up for! That will teach the French to talk trash to the greatest swimmer EVER! We also highly enjoyed our mini Olympic party on Sunday afternoon after church. Since the USA men's basketball team played China during church, we had some people over afterwards to eat some pizza and watch the game. We were only part of the billions of people that tuned it; great game! We felt like we were watching the Globetrotters at a few points with all the dunking by our team!

Anyways, I am not looking forward to staying up late every night glued to the tv,but I am excited for some more great competition!

I just love the fact the President Bush has been at so many competitions. Did anyone see him warming up with Walsh on the sand volleyball courts? What other President would do that!!
