May - Jude

This boy literally keeps us on our toes every single day! He had a lot of good "Judeisms" this month!

-I was trying to order our groceries online one day and I ran into an issue and made a sound of frustration (yes, very much a first world problem), and Jude came up to me and said, "Mom, are you freak'n out?"
-We were singing one of Jude's favorite songs, Go Tell It on the Mountain.  He likes to put everyone's name into the song and we got to Sissy; "Sissy, go tell it on the mountain." Jude instantly stops us and says, "But she can't walk to the top...I guess she'll need a stroller."
-I honestly can't remember what sport we were playing, but I wasn't doing great and he turns to me and says, "It's ok Mommy, I'll coach you."
-He got a weird virus the last day of school that included EVERYTHING.  When he got to the sore throat part, he was having a hard time telling us what hurt.  He finally told me, "Mom, my throat is twisted!" I thought that was a perfect explanation!
-Sam was traveling one week and Jude really wanted to call him at bed time, but wasn't able to because he was in the air.  I was trying to explain that you can't use your cell phones why flying, and he tells me, "But there's a satellite right by the plane." Like, duh mom, it should work the best right there near the satellite.
-He was trying to help Sissy with her paci one day in the car and couldn't reach her.  He looks at me with a frustrated look and says, "My arms aren't tall enough!"
-Sam and Jude tend to have some pretty deep theological discussions at bed time and one night Jude was very curious about Heaven.  Sam was explaining it to him, in a way that he thought Jude would understand it best, what all would be in Heaven.  Then Jude asks, "Will there be Angels in Heaven? Will there be singing?" Yes to both.  Then he sits up super excited and says, "And there will be CAKE!"
-At the beginning of the month we had to go to Amarillo because Sam's Meme had passed away. She had been sick and we had been to see her a few weeks before, so Jude knew that she was sick and was praying for her every day.  The night before we left Sam knew that he needed to tell Jude and try to explain.  Where Sam thought he was going to try to help Jude understand and comfort him, Jude actually ended up doing those things for Sam.
When we got back home, I began to get upset that evening.  Jude saw me crying and asked me what was wrong.  I told him that I was just a little sad about Meme.  He gave me a hug and said, "Its ok Mommy, Meme is in heaven with Jesus and isn't sick anymore."
When Meme very first got sick we kept it very simple for Jude and simply said that she was sick.  The first time we told him he said, "No, she's ok because she has her water." See she was on oxygen 24/7 and the larger machine in her room had a little glass thing of water on the front (I guess so you knew the level) and that was his way of saying, as long as she has that she is fine!
-Around the same time period as above, Jude told Sam one evening that Heaven is not a surprise, but a present.  Such a true depiction of what the bible calls a childlike faith.
-Last, we were doing something on my phone one day and the beep noise for Siri went off and I quickly made it stop. Jude pulled my hand away and said, "Stop, Siri wants to talk!"

Quinn - 13 months

Well we are officially full swing into one year old-ville.  This seems to have good notes and not so good notes when it comes to Quinn!  Let's get the not so good notes out of the way first - someone has learned what an opinion is and likes to use it! This isn't to say that she still isn't her fun, laid-back self, but that when she doesn't agree with what you are doing you might want to watch out! She is so stink'n strong and will try to jump right out of our arms while giving you her best "I am mad" sound/growl! We literally just have to laugh, but I will be honest when I say that it also terrifies me for what her teenage years will look like! She also has become super picky with her eating.  Things that she loved, she will not touch! One day she'll eat something, and the next will smash it or drop it on the floor.  Unlike her brother, we haven't had to deal with throwing food all over the place. She will simply pick it up and drop it on the floor and looks at you like, what, I didn't like it! As long as we get some fruits and veggies in, mommy is happy! She also fully weened herself.  Mommy and daddy went on a vacation, and Quinny decided she just prefers milk.  We were getting close to that point before I left, but still hurts my mommy-heart.  Good notes - she is learning to communicate so much more.  Whether it is through words, sign language, or simply pointing she is really able to "talk" to us! Her newest words are "chee" (cheese), "tis" (this), and "Ude" (Jude). Any time she wants something she will point and say "tis" and will continuing pushing things away until you get it right - a girl that knows what she wants! She loves to drink water now and after every drink she says, "ahhhhhh". I'm guessing this came from watching Jude. She does this funny thing where she loves to lounge on anything behind her.  It could be us, laundry, pillows, blankets, etc.  If she feels them she will instantly lean back and lounge out over and over! She also loves to play the open/close game.  If a door or cabinet is open, she'll crawl super fast to help close it.  Her favorite is the fridge!! Every morning she "helps" mommy get ready.  She just sits at my feet and plays in my drawers and cabinets.  By doing this so much she is beginning to learn the things that I use the most and will start handing them to me! Also, any time she touches a lotion bottle or something that looks like one, she will pick it up and then start rubbing her hands together to "rub it in" just like mommy.  She also loves to comb both of our hair and "brush" her teeth.  That's right, we now have to hide our toothbrushes from both of our kids! Why is this such an obsession??? We will gladly take the good and the not so good from this precious gift! She brings us so much joy and I can hardly remember our family without her. I wish she could stay my little chubby baby forever, but love watching her grow and learn all about this great big world!

Somebody LOVES the pool!!

-Favorite food: I honestly have no idea at this point, but currently some good go-to foods are cheese, cottage cheese, and bananas.
-We have many fun toys around the house, yet pretty much the only things she plays with are the little pots and pans that go with the play kitchen.
-This girl loves, loves, loves music! She loves to play music, listen to music, dance to music.  When we sing, she likes to sing with us even if she has no idea what we are singing.  I highly expect to get this girl into music lessons.  Then she'll be the only one of us that can play anything!!!
-She absolutely adores her big brother.  Anything that he does makes her laugh and all she wants to do is be wherever he is.  He has been so sweet with her lately and dotes on her all the time; I just love how their relationship is blooming!
-She got FOUR teeth this month at the SAME time! She now has four on the top and bottom.
-Wears 12 month clothes and size 4 diapers.
