Jude - January

We had a great start to a great new year!!! Our boy is crazy as ever and becoming the biggest of boys lately! I love it so much, but I also miss my baby boy!! Here are some of the moments I caught from this month:

-Weight: 35.8 pounds (50%), Height: 42 1/2 inches (90%), Height prediction 6'2", BMI: 3% (aka: skinny & tall!)
- When we were at his 4 year old check up his doctor asked him his favorite fruits and veggies and he responded with, "Cinnamon rolls and corn dogs." Awesome, now the doctor thinks I am a horrible mom! For the record we had not had either of those things anywhere close this time!!!
- Jude and Grancy were playing swords one day and Jude said to her, "Grancy I'll take it easy on you because I know you're old."
- Jude has been helping me cook more and more lately, one day while something was cooking in the oven he said, "If I were food, I would want to be cooked in there,"
- I can't remember the exact situation, but when we were in the car one day he was telling me about a story from school and said, "In my heart I was sad, but my face was happy like this (showing a big smile."
- One day Jude was thinking about Meme (Sam's grandmother who passed away last year) and said, "I bet Meme misses me." I agreed and then we both got quiet. A few minutes later he said, "Did Jesus give her a shirt, and some pants & undies?" I was very confused why he would ask this question and then he continued, "Because Jesus only had on undies on the cross." He was referring to all of the pictures that he see of Jesus on the cross and the fact that he only has the cloths wrapped around him. The things children take in that we don't even realize!
- One day after being gone I was telling Jude how much I missed him and he said the same to me. He then followed up by saying, "I pretend that my babysitter is you watching me have fun." HEART BREAKER!
-The same evening Jude asked me, "Do you always wear your hair down at work so they don't think you are a toy worker." Hahaha!
-Jude seems to think that all baptisms take place in a bath tub because he calls them bathmetisms!!
-I was talking to Jude about starting to think about the idea of taking off his training wheels on his bike and he asked, "Am I going to go to training bike school." I wish...might be easier on mom and dad!!
-Sam was traveling for work one day and I had put on some lip gloss to go somewhere, and Jude tells me, "Wear that tomorrow for daddy so he can see how pretty it is; he likes shiny."
-I "home school" Jude every morning that he doesn't go to pre-school; one day after our lesson we went on a walk with Sissy. He started teaching her all about what we had learned and I got a bit excited and wanted to see how much he could really tell her. Well I guess I pushed it too far because he said, "Mommy, I don't want to talk any more right now; can you stop please."
-Every day at nap time Jude sits in the rocking chair with me while I read and rock Sissy. Lately, he has been "reading" her a book every day and it just melts my heart. Although he has simply memorized the book, he is so proud and so sweet as he shows her the pages and helps her touch all of the pictures. He can be pretty "bossy" and rough with her at times, but its times like this I know how much he loves & cares for her.

Quinn - 20 Months

What a fun month it was experiencing so many fun Christmas activities with this little one! She is always up for anything, expect sitting in Santa's lap and staying in the ICE exhibit for too long, and takes in every adventure to its fullest! Quinn is little Miss Personality and just wants to be friends with everyone. Over the Christmas holiday we were at a restaurant with Grancy & Pops, and we let her down before we were leaving. She started going from table to table saying, "Hi guys!" as loud as she could, and she wouldn't move on until each person acknowledged her. We are still not certain exactly where she got this, but its now "Hi guys" and "Bye guys" wherever we go! She loves to be outside ("side") exploring and would prefer to be out there the majority of the day and is not one for sitting still much. We did learn though, that she will not budge for anything if you turn on the movie Frozen! She blows kisses to everyone when we say bye or if anyone says love you to her (even if its simply on the phone). She also told her daddy, "Uv you dada" and completely melted his heart!! She loves her daddy!!! Her absolute favorite gift for Christmas was her baby (bebe) and stroller. She loves to push that stroller all over the place for hours! She is still working on her "mothering skills" but loves to pat bebe and give her hugs. We are working on dropping her on her head and putting her in the stroller upside down! Everything is always, "Uh oh bebe" or "Ouch bebe". This little bundle of personality, joy, strong opinions, and love steals our hearts more every day and we are so thankful to be her mommy and daddy!

She is super picky on what she eats, but will NEVER pass up a cookie!

Stats:

- Still a super picky eater: will only eat one brand of baby food pouches, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, bananas, bread, pb sandwiches, raisins, and crackers. But will devour cookies, cupcakes, cake balls, chocolate, etc.

- Wears mostly 24 month clothes, and size 5 diapers.

- Recent new words: Ouch, Here you go (Hr go), Hi/Bye guys, outside (side), Love you (Uv you), Baby (bebe), Sissy, Sorry (srry).

- Favorite toys: her stroller and baby, pillows, balls, purses, and loves to stack and play with blocks.

December - Jude

December is always a packed full month with Jude's birthday, Christmas activities and traditions, and traveling to see the grandparents for the holidays! We enjoyed every possible bit of the month that we could! Of course, I was able to catch some good Judeisums along the way:

- We were driving one day, and I guess Jude noticed that several cars were passing us and said, "I guess all these people are going fast because they are late to church." It seems as though we aren't setting a good example for Jude on timeliness!
- This boy is so much like his mommy and likes to be on a schedule! Almost every morning when he wakes up the first thing he asks is, "What are we going to do today?" He doesn't want just a general answer either, but a full rundown of our agenda!
- Any time someone asked Jude what he wanted for Christmas this year he would answer with, "A bow & arrow this year and a sling shot next year." The funniest part about this is that we never even talked about this and was something he simply saw in a fun kids magazine with Mo and Aunt Stephie!
- Jude was a bit nervous around Santa this year and was not willing to sit in his lap and tell him what he wanted for Christmas. One day after school though he told me that he saw Santa CLAUSE (emphasis on CLAUSE) today and STOOD by him and whispered that he wanted a bow & arrow. He then proceeded to tell me that Santa CLAUSE has glasses and I guess that is what made him feel more comfortable???
- One day Sam brought up Arkansas for some reason and we were continuing on with our conversation when Jude says, "Do they have a lot of saws?" It took us several minutes, and him trying to explain, for us to figure out that he was referring to Arkan-SAS!!
- Earlier this year we took Grancy & Pops to Smash Burger and Jude has been obsessed with it since. Now anywhere we go he says that he wants to eat a "smash burger" inside the restaurant (aka: not just pick something up). So for a treat we will sometimes take Jude to get a burger, but when we try to just order a regular cheeseburger, he will interrupt and say, "No, I want a SMASH burger (booger)". So we try to obliged and say smash burger while winking at the waiter! Of course when he gets the burger, he always proceeds to smash it as hard as he can!
- One day Jude randomly said, "Do you know you can eat tears? Crying tears are salty, but happy tears aren't." I had no idea they tasted different!
- At this gym one day Jude had some difficulty with another kid and wanting the same toy. The other kid hurt Jude, and so I wanted to see how he reacted back (normally he would retaliate, but we have been trying to teach him different), and he said, "I didn't hit him back, because I love Jesus." If life was just that easy for adults too!!
