Jude - April

This kid literary keeps us on my toes and every way imaginable!! His memory is incredible, nothing gets passed him, and the things that he says keep us laughing daily! I wish I could remember all of them, but these are the ones that I caught this month!

- This kid LOVES broccoli (crazy, I know) but I switched things up on him and gave him cauliflower one day.  I told him what it was and he said, no that's white broccoli and ate it all right up.  Whatever he has to think to eat it!!
-He was playing one day and something happened that I can't fully recall, but he said, "Whoa, that could have been bad news."
- He was eating his waffle on the way to school one morning and excitedly said, "Look, a Texas waffle." Yep, he had eaten it in a way that it sure did look like the state of Texas!
-Again, I can't remember the context of this statement, but we were talking about something and he said, "I guess that's just the way the world works." I'm sure I said this at some point when we were having one of those "it's not fair moments."
- Any scrape, bruise, bite that any of us get he is always the first to say that "God will heal it" or "God healed it" every time.  I love that He gives credit where credit is due, even in the smallest of things!
- From very early on this boy has had horrible allergies.  They have been the worst lately, so we have to be sure to give him his nose spray daily.  He is not a fan of this, and was trying to get out of it one morning and said very matter-of-factually, "Ninja Turtles don't have allergies, so I don't need that." Then another morning I told him that he wasn't going to be able to breathe all day if he did not take his medicine and he said, "Its ok, I'll just use my mount for air."
-He was eating dinner one night and found a crumb from a previous meal on the table. He picks it up and proceeds to throw it on the floor and says, "That's where old food goes, right?" I had to laugh because at any point there is always quite a bit of crumbs under our table, so he was kind of right!!!
-We were out to dinner one evening when Grancy & Pops were in town and an older man with a ponytail walked by.  Jude asked who he was, and we said that we did not know him because he was a stranger and then Jude said, "No, that was a pirate!" We all died laughing because we could totally see how he could think that!
-We were playing over at Ethan's one afternoon and they had a play flip phone. Jude picks it up and tells us all to be quite, because he is going to go in the other room to take a work call.  Seems as though he has heard this before!!!
-We were driving to Amarillo one weekend and had stopped at a gas station.  Sam was letting Jude run around in a patio area to get some energy out and he tried to pick up an old cigarette.  Sam told him not to pick it up because it was yucky.  A few minutes later a woman came out and started to get a cigarette out and Jude points to her and says, "That's yucky!" She kindly said she agreed and Sam scooped him up and got him out of there before he said anything else!!!
-I was getting Jude dressed one day and he looked up at me and said, "Do I look like a super hero?" Always bud, always!!
-We were taking a walk one afternoon and went across a cross walk.  Once we got across Jude says, "Hey, that's where the Beatles walked!"
-Lastly, I was very delayed in getting Jude's nails cut (they grow like weeds!!) and one day in the car he says, "I got the white stuff off." I was super confused until he held up his nail super proud of himself and said, "I bit it off!" I told him to not do any more and that I would cut them all when we got home and he said, "That's ok, I'll just bite them all off." Seems as though he inherited his daddy's horrible habit!!

Fun day with Mo visiting Thomas the Train

Jude - March

We had such a great month enjoying the beautiful spring weather, celebrating Easter, and starting soccer!!
-One afternoon when he was going down for a nap he decided he wanted to sleep in his Superman cape.  He wasn't really wanting to go down and said, "I'm a super hero and super heroes don't take naps."
-He had his first real dentist appointment and LOVED it.  He even had some xrays done and the dentist showed him all of his teeth.  When we were going to the car after having his teeth cleaned, he started looking at his teeth in the window and excitedly said, "My teeth aren't black anymore!" I was so confused and then realized that he thought they were black because of the xray!!! I just went along with it and said, nope that's why we get our teeth cleaned!
-We have been talking a lot about strangers to try to really get him to understand.  He always asks what a stranger looks like and we tell him anyone that you do not know their name. So we were leaving Costco one day and he pointed to a lady and very loudly started yelling "stranger, she's a stranger!" I guess next we will need to work on stranger manners!
-After bath one night Jude asked me, "Mommy, what are all those red things on your face?" I told him zits.  "Why?" I told him that unfortunately mommy's get them on their face, and he asked, "Do I have them?" I told him he didn't, and he said, "Well, why do you then?" I just agreed and said I wish I knew!!!

Quinn - 11 months

Seriously....seriously, we are only one month away from my baby being ONE???? I guess this mamma better come to terms with that because its coming whether I like it or not! This little girl has learned all sorts of new things this month! She LOVES to be outside and eat ANYTHING that she finds on the ground (that's fun!). Her favorite is leaves! She has even started to try to run away from us if we are coming after her to get something out of her mouth, then as soon as we get there she spits it out!  If one of us is playing with Jude outside we'll put her on the trampoline with the net with some toys and she'll just play in there forever! She is not only pulling up on everything, but has even stood on her own a few times. She still seems to prefer crawling, and tends to restore to the bear crawl a lot to save her poor little knees.  She is definitely still a mamma's girl, but she has been even  more obsessed with her daddy lately! She gets so excited when he comes home, and is the first thing she asks and looks for in the morning - da-da! She also loves playing with Jude.  She is one tough cookie though because he'll start "wrestling" with her and all she does is laugh and try to climb on him; I'm just thinking, "girl you are crazy"!! She also loves to just sit and watch him play.  If he is outside, she will just stand at the backdoor to watch all that he is doing and yell at him! She can't wait to be out there running around with him. I could seriously snuggle with this girl all day, but not sure she would let me.  She is getting a bit more busy and wants to explore on the floor.  She is pretty independent and content the majority of the time just doing her own thing. She has been a bit more clingy though due to her top two teeth making their way out.  They make her look so much older though! Here are a few pics from our adventures this month.

Mommy and pretty Quinn

Just doing her thing

Her teething face, poor baby

-She is eating like a champ and still likes most things that we give to her.  She is also doing so well with finger foods, and she even likes the meats that we are introducing. Up next up, using a spoon and sippy cup!
-Her favorite things to play with are any of brother’s toys, things that she can shake and socks.  That’s right, she always has someone’s sock in her hand taking it everywhere she goes.  I don’t even know how she finds them half of the time!
-She has started this funny sliding move when she is crawling towards something she wants.  You know she is after something because she'll start breathing hard and crawling fast, and then right before she gets there she reaches out and slides to the object!
-There is no guessing when Quinn is done eating.  Especially when she is done with a bottle she gets it in her hands and just tosses it.  And don’t try to put it back in, she’ll just swat it away.  A girl that knows what she wants!
-She is doing really well with her baby sign language.  It cracks us up though because when she is eating, she pretty much keeps her hands in a constant state of “more”!
-I think Quinn might have a future in leg wrestling! If you are trying to dress her, change her diaper, tickle her, or just when she gets excited she’ll lift both of her legs up and slam them down.  She’s strong too!
-She loves to give kisses, and especially to other babies.  She needs work on her technique though, because she goes right at them and usually ends up head-butting them!
-She now has four teeth, two on the top and two on the bottom.  Wears size 4 diapers and 9 and 12 month clothes.
